Sustainability Over Intensity

Too many people rush their time in the gym. I get it, change is uncomfortable. But, if you are serious about making a change, it takes a serious mindset shift: this does not happen overnight.

Fitness is the long game. If you want to see noticeable changes you need to be able to keep these “habits” over a long period of time, years not weeks or months. The only way you will be able to do that is to get into a routine that is sustainable.

I have seen it time and time again over the years, individuals who sign up for 5 training sessions a week and only show up to 2 and then burn out after a month. Or someone who is trying to make a change nutritionally, completely overhaul their life overnight… it almost never works.

Small changes, small habits, done consistently over a long period of time is how you see really good results. I talk with clients all of the time about planning and preparation. Slowing down for a second to take a look at your life and schedule and find some time to schedule out your workouts so you don’t miss them. Planning things and being aware of your schedule can help you in being more sustainable.

Start small and be consistent. There will be days you don’t want to show up and that’s 100% OKAY! But, showing up unmotivated 2 times per week is much easier than 5 times per week. You are much more likely to stay on track and make progress.
