Progress in the gym iS never linear
Too many people engage in strength training expecting things to go perfect all of the time. Here is the truth: your success in the gym is largely determined by how successful the other 23+ hours OUTSIDE of the gym are. Is it realistic for us to be perfect? No. We are human and challenges ebb and flow.
There will be times in your life where everything lines up. You’re sleeping well, you’re eating well, your stress levels are manageable, you have the capacity to put full effort into what you are doing. During these times it is important that you push hard. Don’t overwhelm yourself, but when you can be consistent and intentional… do it.
There will be other times in your life where motivation lacks. Stress levels are higher. Food choices are not as good. Your sleep suffers… and your performance at the gym drops. This is TOTALLY OKAY and COMPLETELY NORMAL. But, this is where a lot of the habits you have built come into play.
You still need to show up. You still need to put in as much effort as you can give. You still need to be as consistent as you can. You also need to take a step back and look at the whole picture. Where did you start? Where are you at now?
Sure, you might be going through a bit of a rough patch, we all do. Just keep showing up for you and your goals and you will notice things will continue to tick forward.
